Project Description

Secrets from a Forest tells an inspiring story of the intimate relationship between artistic expression and the natural world. Audiences explore the “singing spruce” in Italy’s Paneveggio Forest, the source of wood for the Stradivarius violin, encounter the creation of this remarkable instrument inside a violin maker’s studio; and are transported to a concert hall to hear the thrilling and powerful result of this delicate dance between human beings and nature.

About the Director

Neil Lucas was a producer with the BBC's world renowned Natural History Unit for over 20 years. During that time he has worked on many international award-winning productions, including Sir David Attenborough's Trials of Life, The Private Life of Plants, The Life of Mammals, Planet Earth and the highly acclaimed Life Series. Many of Neil's Programmes and productions are the most technically challenging to have been made, and nominated for many International, BAFTA and EMMY awards. Neil now works as a freelance film director, producer and photographer specializing in the more demanding and technical shoots. He works alongside some of the world's top photographers and filmmakers, using new and state of the art filming and photographic techniques, many of which he is recognised for worldwide.
