Project Description

Subaru Sisters is a fulldome animated short film that reimagines the Greek myth of the Pleiades from a modern perspective. The seven Subaru sisters, pursued by Orion, the hunter, unite to challenge his cosmic reign. Through their sacred plan, they transform the night sky, achieving immortality and rewriting their destiny.

About the Director

Juli Tagger is a director and producer specialized in immersive animation with 20 years of experience. Her fulldome short film “Solarians” is a pioneer in its category, has been awarded in China, and won the Grand Prix and the Audience Choice Award in Japan. “Solarians” has been screened in planetariums and museums around the world and is currently part of the permanent exhibition at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo. Juli also directed and produced a flat-screen short film, “Caso 100,” which was selected for Pictoplasma and participated in several international festivals. She founded the Immersive Animation Workshop while she was the Creative Director of the Buenos Aires Planetarium. As a mentor for WIA, she conducted the 2nd Immersive Animation Workshop and is now preparing for the world premiere of her second fulldome film, “Subaru Sisters,” in Japan in February 2025.
